Kristina Kapilin is a Danish-Faroese artist and educator based in London.

Grounded in ecological and embodied listening, Kristina’s practice spans sound composition, field recording, text, voice, performance, and documentary storytelling. Her works explore how sound and language shape relationships between place, memory, and perception, approaching sound as a multi-sensory, spatial material.

Kristina’s sound works have been presented at venues including Iklectik (UK), Sound Kitchen, Prague Quadrennial (CZ), and IRCAM Forum (FR). Broadcasts include Radiophrenia (UK) and Resonance FM.

Trained in design-led performance making, Kristina has designed sound for theatre productions including Trade (The Pleasance), I Can’t Hear You (Theatre 503), and But When? (The Hat Factory). In 2021, she was selected as a mentee for composer and sound designer Nicola T. Chang as part of the Jermyn Street Theatre x Masterclass mentorship programme. Her background in theatre continues to inform her work through a dramaturgical sensitivity to the spatial and narrative qualities of sound and listening.

Kristina is a graduate of MA Digital Direction at the Royal College of Art, London; her MA studies were generously supported by the Augustinus Foundation (DK). She also holds a First Class BA (Hons) in Performance: Design and Practice from Central Saint Martins and a BA in English and Digital Design from Aarhus University.

Kristina is an Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins and has delivered sound design and listening workshops across the college’s Performance Programme.
